Even "proofed" shirts are not repellant for long so i don't know why they bother doing it.

Sorry for the delay in replying to your comments.AlanRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07180571503542781921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439013386414903935.post-19211151954081379042010-08-14T21:48:40.143+01:002010-08-14T21:48:40.143+01:00I recall Reed from my whitewater days - they make ...I recall Reed from my whitewater days - they make solid kit so this should be good. The only thing I would say about Pertex is that it tends not to be coated - the DWR is not so much coated all over the Pertex but surrounds the weave itself, thus not inhibiting breathability. That's the idea anyway. I love these very useful pieces of kit - I almost always have one now.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10023592697740977989noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439013386414903935.post-20254540224256936422010-07-16T10:23:03.747+01:002010-07-16T10:23:03.747+01:00Mac E.

If you want it to be waterproof then buy one that is.
Although when i wash mine i wash it in TX direct which helps it move the water better.

Martin,
I havn't bought this one i already have a Montane lite speed which will last me a while.
But if i had seen this one 1st i would have got it. Hence reason for sharing it here.

Gibson,
I havn't had any problems with my Montane regarding rucksack wear.
I have had it about 18 months and it's my preferred choice unless its throwing it down.
As you and Chris say, at this price it doesn't matter if it wears out within a year or two.AlanRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07180571503542781921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439013386414903935.post-26703538376860290352010-07-16T09:01:44.449+01:002010-07-16T09:01:44.449+01:00Wow! I seem to remember a Berghaus jacket (for insulation I think) made of Quantum fabric but it wasn't tough enough to take a lot of wear and tear.

Still, as Chris Townsend would say: Dislikes -'nothing at this price.'

Thanks for sharing this Alan.afootinthehillshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06670636358354420373noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439013386414903935.post-71420289474144037832010-07-15T19:43:09.941+01:002010-07-15T19:43:09.941+01:00They weigh little but give a big performances on t...They weigh little but give a big performances on the hill. As the name suggests a windshirt only has to provide a barrier to wind.Mac Ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11212410938991488721noreply@blogger.com
