Hi Alan

The first photograph shows well the horrors being inflicted everywhere. The second calmed me down.

When my grandfather was a child he ran away from home, got hired as a farm labourer at Ulverston fair, and ended up at Swinside Farm. The experience was grim enough to make him vow never to go into farm service again, and he spent the rest of his working life at Askam brickworks. The pictures are nice, mind.
Cheers, Alen McF

Hi Alen,
When your grandfather was a lad , farming in this part of the world was a tough life. Having said that i bet it wasn’t an easy one working in Askam brickworks. I bet he can tell some stories.
