While I have been away I came across this old piece of equipment. Can you guess what it is? I have blurred out the manufacturer’s name so that it’s not too easy.

ReplyDeleteI was in a place that made pies. This contraption pressed pastry and pushed out the right quantity to make the bottom and top of the pie. There was also a second press that shaped the dough into a deep base and a crimped top. It was so good to watch it in action. Thanks for having a guess.
It's the coffee machine designed by the team at UMIST who got through vast amounts of coffee whilst developing Computer Mk 1.
ReplyDeleteIt might well have started life on the drawing board as a coffee grinder and dispenser and then somebody said “ I think it would suit pastry better”. You never know.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little behind here, bit I did have a good look at the picture before reading the comments. Like Conrad I had thoughts of cake icing before being flummoxed as to why a cake icer would need to look like a press too.
