The first snows of 2024.

Tuesday 16th January 2024

We were warned by the news that a yellow ice and snow warning had been released.

What! No. It can't be? It's global warming, how can we possibly have snow and ice?

Oh yes, it's winter in the UK isn't it. Before you know it there will be leaves on the line to go with the train strikes. Have folk forgotten that winter means, cold, ice and snow, freezing fog, frozen pipes and roads, delays on the roads and other transport systems. All the UK comes to a complete halt as soon as the ground is covered by 2cm of the white stuff.

Ignoring the dangerous weather Sheila and I decided to get our "winter gear on" and brave the elements.

Within 100metres we were confronted with a dumped car and a milk wagon that couldn't squeeze passed it to get up the hills to the farms. Luckily a tractor was also in the area and dragged said car out of the way. Nobody knew who the owner was. Incredible inconsideration by the car driver.

We did 8km and here are a few photos the our snowy adventure. Thankfully even though it was the depth of winter we made it home without rescue. Lol.

  1. Well done. A good set of photos. I've just got back from Chorley after a f/up on my eye op and the consultant, Mrs . Linton is well pleased with the result. I still have a bubble of liquid at th bottom of my vision but that will dissipate within the next week and I should be back to normal - a miracle!
